Adams Account Of his Last 2 Races in Belgium

Raced thursday, at Wodecq. Was good. Spent 70km feeling rubbish then all of a sudden there was an opportunity to attack, so I did! Was a strange feeling spending 8km off the front on my own, not done that for a while! Eventually a group came up to me, followed by some more. Then after a bit of a lul due to the group being too big, one of the Veranda's Willems guys put in a massive dig up a drag, which only me and a couple of other guys could follow. However Frank Vandenbroucke's brother in law was already about 15 seconds ahead. Try as we may, 5 of us could not even get close to him, and trust me, we weren't hanging about! It didn't help that he had a team mate sitting on us, but that didn't really affect us too much.

After a while, during the last lap, it became clear we were going for 2nd, so the Veranda's Willems guy attacked again, and it split the group, with me in the second half. We got back on with about a K to go. At 500m there was a lul, so I foolishly tried to go for the long one. Alas it didin't work and I ended up 6th. Pretty good though, first time I've been in that position for a while so I was pleased to even be there really. And 40 euros for my trouble wasn't bad either!

Raced again today, at Limelette-Rofessart. A nice draggy course consisting largely of a crappy narrow lane which isn't even on the map, then some cobbles, and a fast descent leading into a 400m uphill sprint. Again, spent 65km at the back feeling rubbish, then I woke up, got to the front and followed a move which left me in the front group. Last time over the cobbles and me and 4 others split it. We held about a 50m gap until the last slow corner before the finish which allowed the rest of the break back on. The downhill lead into the sprint was dodgy, two separate riders nearly brought me down on two separate occasions, this in turn left me too far back to really challenge for the win. So I ended up 14th. Which I should be pleased with, but having made the winning move for the second race on the trot, I was fuming that I mucked it up. I had the legs to win today. Still, I'm going in the right direction and I feel like I have so much more in me too before I'm really ''on form'', or ''good'' as they say over here! Haha.

On the plus side, the Eurasia (Nippo) manager is getting very friendly with us now! He asked me after the race how come I was ''not good'' at the first race he saw us at, and how come I am now ''Good''!! So I explained about being sick and everything, and he then went on to say it will be possible for us to guest with them in some interclubs in August, and possibly for a stage race in France... Nice!

Cheers,
